(Guestimate there but you get the idea).Īs well as that, some rifles and ammo just don't sync together. Over a few hundred metres one could be hitting 6"- 7" lower than the other even though they're out of the same box.

Over distance that has an increasing effect on drop and a change in point of impact/accuracy. 30 cal projectile weight can vary by +/- 3-4 grains.īuy a box cheap "150gr" projectiles and they could be a mix of anything from about 146gr - 154gr. 22lr isn't effected to these extremes as it's such a small projectile but for example cheaper. More consistent powder charges in each cartridge. Higher quality ammunition will typically have more uniform weight/shape projectiles. The type of ammunition makes a huge difference. I never knew bullets can make a difference. wee short stock, short barrell, iron sights, single shot.īugger is a far better shot than me now, ON THE RANGE!! the theroy was, he had one shot, a bugger of a fiddle putting the next one in the breech, made the first one count.Joker wrote:At least I got everyone's help on the forum which will help me from getting screwed over haha haha When my son was learning to shoot, I cut down an old single shot to fit a small boy. A trap the most if not all first time semi user fall into. With a semi, it is very easy to fall into the trap of putting as much lead in the air as possible in the hopes that ONE of 'em will hit the target. You will become a much better and safer shot if you do. If so, I earnestly recommend that your forego the good deal and invest in a bolt action rifle. also regaurding the second hand option i would rather buy a gun off a local shop where it has a waranty and i no the history of it if you no what i mean, at least if something shits it self i always have a waranty to fall back on H8ruba wrote:ok after listening to what you have all been saying hunting and fishing found me a deal with a rugar 10/22 with 4x32 scope silencer 2x 10shot mags and a gun bag for 600.

I honestly suggest you try to raise another $500 and but a quality rifle. If you want CHEAP, by all means, take the Norinco JW series. that's is the BOTTOM of the range where you could possibly use the word GOOD. Spoke to the nice man, after accusing him of being an Aussie, what he had for what seems to be your offer. I went into one of our three large sports shops today, buying new camo pants to hide the lilywhite legs from the jap deer. Good and cheap are generally mutually exclusive. I read a while ago that soem of these cheaper rifles dont like a full mag so may be something to watch for (just run the mag one less than capacity). When you do get one go out and put a 100 - 150 rounds through it in a reasonable time to pick up any feed problems etc (then you can go back in reasonable time and argue). Just make sure the shop has a no questions asked swap or money back policy if you do happen to get a dud. Hell I looked long and hard at a norinko M14 knock off a while back and only backed down when the wife relented about my trials vehicle purchase.Įnd of the day do you need a flash as gun for short range possoms and rabits that may get a hiding in the back of a wagon? The money you save on the savage would buy a lot of fancy bits for the jw15 (nice scope and bipod) and still have some $$$ for ammo.

223 and its great but given the cost differnce here of 40% I'd go norinko. Yeah they are a little rough in the finishing but is the savage 200 bucks better? I have a savage bolt action. Thousands of rounds and the guy wont buy anything else. If it was anyother than the jw15 id say go savage, but there is a shooting school (for licences) that uses these jw15's and they get an absolute hiding.
